It started when I was really young. Like still in the womb young. I was born on Valentine's Day (as was my dad) and the rest is history. Ever since I can remember I have been surrounded, immersed, and showered in hearts - heart necklaces, heart socks, heart chocolates, heart-shaped stickers...
Although I have grown up around a lot of heart paraphernalia, I have come to realize that I am surrounded by more hearts than I recognized.
What I deeply love about photography is that there are so many hearts involved.
When I am taking photos of people, I enjoy getting to know their hearts - what they are passionate about, the quirks of their personalities, the things they adore, the people they can't live without, what makes them uniquely designed and the things that make them feel alive.
Then you have the actual photo. The photo itself always seems to capture the love involved between the people being photographed. Whether it's a couple in new fresh love, or an aged couple with love that has been established, or an individual who will share these photos with ones they love… it all represents love and involves hearts.
I consider myself a historian. I simply document what exists in the now, and soon it will be the then. Photos allow you to look at and remember your history and the amazing things God has done.
In addition to my obsession with living hearts, I also feel I have an observant personality and a knack for details.
I enjoy observing people and trying to know them - on a deeper level - and then capturing the things about them that I find. I hope to give you photos that show yourself, and others, who you really are. Your crinkly nose when you smile, the cute freckles you have, or the sassy attitude that bursts out on occasion. I want your photos to capture the story of what is going on around you in that moment. I love shooting detail shots - your hair, your stylish ring, the adorable shoes you wore, the sun shining on the landscape behind you…
Lastly, to share a little about me personally, I have tried for years to convince myself and others that I am not high-maintenance. Listen here everyone - I concede! I am high-maintenance! I like hair product (the more the better), coffee when I shop (or read, or work, or…), a manicure now and again, frequent date nights with the man I love and call husband (or hubster), temperatures between 72 and 75 degrees (any slight variation and I will probably request my trusted space heater or the AC), calming indie/emo music, physical activity that doesn't involve sweating…I think you get the idea. I like to think of myself as intricately hand-crafted.
Thanks for reading about my heart - one day I hope to know yours!
