A few months ago I posted on my business facebook page that Maryn Lee Photography would be adding another business partner in April 2013. Well the time is rapidly approaching and our new business partner will be arriving very very soon! We could not be more thrilled, and the anticipation of meeting our little girl is growing more every single day.
Nate and I have been very busy preparing for this little one. Over the last months, we have been working on preparing her room – nesting if you will. This was really a fun project for Nate and I to work on together. Nate basically is the hero in all of this. From painting the room, to building the dresser and crib, to hanging the curtains and spray painting some furniture…the man has done it all and I am so grateful! It was fun seeing our two roles pan out – I did a lot of the visionary concepts and purchasing of goods, and he assembled, hung and built everything. If you ask me, I think we make a pretty good team.
I can’t wait to post photos of our girl once she is here – what photographer could resist doing her own newborn photo shoot?? As for the business, I plan to take a few months off once baby arrives to get acclimated and adjusted as a family of 3. Then I plan to get back into photography – something I have missed these past quiet months.
For now though, let’s take a tour of our latest home project! Here’s the man himself, painting the room.
Nate building the dresser. Many of the times he was building and hanging things I would sit and keep him company.
The finished room!
I searched for wall prints that we liked, but wasn’t able to find any that seemed to be exactly what we wanted. I decided to just design them myself and get them printed. We love this (paraphrased) verse and hope it will become a truth and a comfort for our baby.
Notice the crib skirt and curtains. My extremely talented sister made both of them for us. She mailed us some homemade burp cloths made of this fabric and we fell in love with it so much that I asked her to make curtains and a matching crib skirt with that fabric. The fabric became the focal point of the room and I carried the burp cloths with me to stores to match colors of other room items. Thank you seeester!
I got this little side table at an antique store in Hershey for $15 and Nate spray painted it to match the yellow in the curtains. I love how it turned out!
One of our dear friends put together this little accessory board as a gift for us. A girl obviously needs her accessories. Start ‘em young!
And lastly, the closet. We are all about being organized and are trying to be organized from the get go so that as she gets older we can manage and stay on top of clutter and keep a minimal amount of things for her without being overwhelmed by tons of toys and unnecessary items. We decided to get some closet organizers from WalMart (the vertical shoe rack) and The Container Store (collapsible cubes and stackable shelves). Also check out her clothes! We have only bought one or two items – all of this has been loaned or given to us and we have been super blessed by all our friends and family’s generosity!
Only a few more days till we will welcome her into the world. Cannot wait!
